The data center had scheduled to upgrade the power distribution panels on Sep 22nd in chi01 facility to better be able to provide greater capacity, and greater overall redundancy and flexibility. As an example, this panel upgrade will allow to do a complete UPS swap/upgrade without affecting power reliability. During the maintenance, we will have no power for 6 hours. To prevent the server downtime, we will temporarily move our cabinets in chi01 to B side power on Sep 22nd 3AM CDT. After the maintenance completes, we will move back to A side power on Sep 23rd 3AM CDT.
Here is the date, time, and what we will doing:
- Saturday September 22nd 3:00 AM CDT (Chicago Time): we will shutdown all servers in chi01-011 cabinet and move the APC power strip to B side power then turn on all servers. 30 minutes later (3:30 AM CDT), we will shutdown all servers in chi01-033 cabinet and move the APC power strip to B side power then turn on all servers.
- Sunday September 23rd 3:00 AM CDT (Chicago Time): we will shutdown all servers in chi01-011 cabinet and move the APC power strip back to A side power then turn on all servers. 30 minutes later (3:30 AM CDT), we will shutdown all servers in chi01-033 cabinet and move the APC power strip back to A side power then turn on all servers.
Who is affected:
Only customers have servers in chi01-011 and chi01-033 cabinet will be affected by this maintenance (servers in chi02 facility will not affect). To see if your servers are in chi01-011 or chi01-033, login to your account at our Client Portal (https://my.vinax.net) then click on “Services” -> “My Services” -> click on “View Details” of the server -> then look for the “Cabinet & DC Location”.
What you need to do:
You may not need to take any actions. Before we move to B side and move back to A side power, we will shutdown your server by pressing the power button.
If you want to login to your server and shutdown gracefully by yourself, please make sure to do that before the time we scheduled to shutdown your server (3AM for servers in chi01-011 and 3:30AM for servers in chi01-033).
